The Brief

Epworth HealthCare was seeking to appoint a Chief Financial Officer to perform a key executive leadership role providing strategic advice and leadership across the finance, accounting, payroll, commercial, procurement, facilities management, and legal services areas. This position has both strategic and operational elements that support good governance, identifying new opportunities, and executing the corporate strategy and business plan.

The Search Methodology

Engagement – Wexford Hayes met with the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, People & Culture to fully understand the company, culture, role brief, and candidate competencies required. We also set reasonable expectations in terms of timelines and results to ensure we remain aligned with Epworth HealthCare throughout the process.

Sourcing – Wexford Hayes conducted detailed market research, initiated searches of public and in-house databases, implemented an advertising strategy, and utilised our extensive networks.

Assessment – Following a preliminary screening of candidates, we conducted further assessment via behavioural and competency-based interest with selected candidates to determine our final shortlist of candidates. We also attended the Epworth HealthCare panel interviews (via video link) to ensure a consistent approach to assessment and objective feedback to the candidates.

Delivery – Wexford Hayes provided a weekly status of updates throughout the search process. We delivered the shortlist in 5 weeks and the role was appointed within 3 months of commencement.

Candidate Care – Wexford Hayes treated every candidate with respect and adopted a process that kept our candidates informed, built a positive candidate experience, and provided objective feedback.
